Welcome to Week 10 of the NFL season.
« on: January 07, 2019, 04:18:17 AM »

This is about the time you can make some general conclusions about the leagueís best and worst. The 49ers probably fall into the latter of that category. While they arenít officially eliminated from playoff contention San Francisco 49ers Hoodie , they are circling the drain and playing for pride and Nick Mullens to showcase what heís got for 2019. They will get going against the New York Giants for Monday Night Football. This gives us a full slate of games to consider for Sunday. And...this week there isnít much. Most of these games seem easily predictable at face value, though Iíd love to see the New England Patriots face off against the Tennessee Titans. I know Iíll be disappointed in a good game, but maybe...just maybe...the Titans can surprise. The Seattle Seahawks/Los Angeles Rams game could be good, but I bet the Rams blow them out again. I canít believe Iím actually most excited to watch the Cleveland Browns. What do you want to watch?New Orleans Saints at Cincinnati Bengals, 10:00 A.M., FOXAtlanta Falcons at Cleveland Browns, 10:00 A.M., FOXDetroit Lions at Chicago Bears,锘?10:00 A.M.FOXArizona Cardinals at Kansas City Chiefs Customized San Francisco 49ers Jerseys , 10:00 A.M., CBSNew England Patriots at Tennessee Titans, 10:00 A.M., CBSWashington at Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 10:00 A.M., FOXBuffalo Bills at New York Jets, 10:00 A.M., CBSJacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis Colts 10:00 A.M., CBSLos Angeles Chargers at Oakland Raiders www.sanfrancisco49ersteamonline.com , 1:05 P.M., CBSSeattle Seahawks at Los Angeles Rams, 1:25 P.M., CBSMiami Dolphins at Green Bay Packers, 1:25 P.M., CBSDallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles, 5:20 p.m., NBC The NFL realizes the bright-line connection between having the best quarterbacks in the sport available to play football and having as many people as possible fully engaged in following the sport. Remove a franchise quarterback from a franchise, and the franchiseís fans will be inclined to check out for the rest of the year. Moreover San Francisco 49ers T-Shirt , any nationally-televised games involving the franchise without a franchise quarterback will lose in the ratings to Maury Povich reruns. But at a time when the NFL has decided to go overboard to protect quarterbacks, particularly with a roughing-the-passer rule that some believe has become virtually impossible to comply with, quarterback need to protect themselves. Whether itís Bills quarterback Josh Allen exposing the McNuggets while hurdling over Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr (Allen got lucky) or 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo deciding to not to run out of bounds but to plant his left leg, cut back at the left sideline, and drop a shoulder into a defender (Garoppolo didnít get lucky), quarterbacks continue to take unnecessary risk with their own bodies ó and with the multi-million-dollar investments teams have made in them. While it may be a tad insensitive to call out Garoppolo as he waits for confirmation that he has a torn ACL, Garoppolo has only himself to blame for deciding to do something other than the smart thing and step away from contact, not try to embrace it. Why do quarterbacks continue to insist on doing this? What does it prove, other than the quarterback is more brawn than brain? And yawn will now be the operative word for the 49ers when they participate in four prime-time games in a five-week span: Week Six at Packers on Sunday night San Francisco 49ers Hats , Week Seven vs. Rams on Monday night, Week Nine vs. Raiders on Thursday night, and Week 10 vs. Giants on Monday night. With three of those four evening games at home, look for a lot of traffic problems in Santa Clara. So thatís why the league is protecting quarterbacks. And thatís why quarterbacks need to protect themselves.
